UWA 04.09.05 Show Review |

UWA 04.09.05
Instead of the normal UWA ring the boys are
wrestling in Miamisburg, Ohio at a park with
quite a few onlookers which gives an interesting
feel to the show. This show was basically just a
transition show so don't expect too much.
Calypso Vs Outlaw (For the UWA Heavyweight
Title)
Calypso applies a headlock then turns it into a
takeover, Outlaw tries to fight out but gets hit
with a clothesline which gets two. Calypso
stomps on Outlaw, hits a snapmare, kicks to the
back, and the dropkick which gets two. Calypso
picks Outlaw up but gets a DDT for his troubles.
Outlaw pounds on Calypso but gets caught in an
ankle lock and Calypso drops down into some sort
of stretch which Outlaw elbows his way out of.
Calypso hits an elbow to regain control, locks
in an arm wringer twice, tosses Outlaw into the
WALL and hits a big boot. Calypso climbs the
park wall and hits an albow which gets two.
Calypso hits the F5 but Gage comes in to
interfere and cause a DQ. Gage suplexes Calypso
after stomping on him when Scott Slavins comes
out and dropkicks Outlaw from nowhere. Calypso
gets up and superkicks both Gage and Outlaw down
and it appears we have a Scott Slavins turn.
Match was
3:47
and didn't get a chance to go anywhere, * for what
we saw.
Gage and Outlaw Vs Calypso and Scott
Slavins
This is the first tag team match in UWA. Gage
hits a headscissors and hurricarana on Calypso
to start things off but gets hit with a powerful
clothesline. After some stomps and kicks to the
back, Calypso hits a running knee to the face
for two. Calypso puts the headlock in but gets
backdrop out of it and Slavins gets tagged in.
Slavins hits a springboard DDT on Gage and
followed by a suplex. Slavins hits a kick to the
back of the head and goes for a roll up which
gets two. Slavins hits a snapmare and hits the
dropkick to the back of the head which gets two,
another roll up is bridged out and rveersed into
a pin for two. Both men stare each other down
and tag out. Outlaw hits a flying clothesline on
Calypso from the wall followed by repeated
stomps followed by a DDT. Calypso hits a
superkick and sets Outlaw up for the running
knee against the cement wall! Calypso hits a big
suplex and tags in Slavins and they double team
the arm. Teamwork~! Slavins kicks Outlaw in the
stomach then hits a suplex of his own followed
by a figure four. Outlaw tries to fight out but
Slavins reverses the reversal. Calypso gets
tagged in and hits a horrible flip on Outlaw.
Calypso hits Outlaw with his shoe but Gage comes
in and hits a bulldog on Calypso. Slavins and
Calypso double-team Outlaw until Gage does a
front flip off the wall onto all three men and
everybody is down! Backflip kick is reversed
into a dragon screw and Outlaw gets nailed with
a chair by Calypso. Calypso goes to work on the
leg of Gage with a leg scissors followed by
legdrops on the leg. Slavins gets the tag and
they wishbone Gage. Slavins hits a double
legdrop and hits a Dudley Dog for two. Slavins
hits a legdrop off the wall to the back of Gage
but only earns a two count. Calypso and Slavins
double team Gage some more and Calypso hits a
huge clothesline which caused Gage to backflip.
Slavins jumps over the wall and attacks Outlaw
while Calypso hits a suplex to Gage and Slavins
hits a guilltone on Outlaw. Calypso goes to dive
off the wall but Outlaw pushes him off. Outlaw
gets the tag, DDT's Calypso then hits the Lights
Out for the three count at
9:28.
** for the first tag match in UWA history. As
pointed out on the commentary, the wrestlers
weren't really motivated seeing as how there
would be no long-term purpose of anything on
this show other than rematches that would take
place on the new two shows.
Overall, this show was basically just to
entertain the crowd that watched it, which just
happened to be a bunch of little kids under the
age of 10 and a few adults. That means you won't
have any long matches that could tell a story
and of course technical wrestling. If you're
looking for a quick introduction to the UWA this
is a good show for it as it only runs about 15
minutes and features the top of the UWA hitting
some of their main moves. Of course, if you know
what's going on in the UWA the show isn't really
worth it. Thumbs in the middle for this.
