Catching Up

The UWA has been practically silent on the internet since December 20, 2007, but that does not mean that the UWA has been dead this entire time. In fact, UWA has been more active than ever and a lot has changed so do not read on if you do not want any spoilers and would rather wait for the videos to be posted and watch them yourselves.

On December 31, 2007, we saw the return of UWA Hall of Famer Joe Outlaw make a return for one night only and participate in a huge eight-man elimination match that also featured Josh Bobb, Calypso, Prototype, JD Marshall, Big Daddy A, Cecil, and a Douchebag. The final two men standing were the UWA Undisputed Champion Josh Bobb and the Hall of Fame inductee Joe Outlaw and the two battled until Calypso and Big Daddy A came out (after they were both eliminated by Joe Outlaw) and attacked both men, causing the match to end in a draw. Not happy with that outcome, Josh Bobb offered Joe Outlaw a singles match right then and there for the title and in the end it was Josh Bobb picking up the victory on Joe Outlaw in a historic battle. Unfortunately, this match was taped in extreme darkness and it's likely that the footage will never see the light of day, since, well, there is no light.

UWA kicked off 2008 on January 16, 2008, and also with a huge shocking upset when JD Marshall defeated the man he injured, Calypso, in singles action, earning himself a title shot later in the night. Prototype battled Josh Bobb in singles action with Josh Bobb coming out on top and in the main event Josh Bobb defeated JD Marshall in a tables match to retain the Undisputed Championship despite Prototype doing everything to help his tag team partner out.

Just ten days later, Josh Bobb would defend his Undisputed Championship in an epic sixty-five minute match against Calypso, Prototype, and JD Marshall. By the end of the match, Josh Bobb and Prototype were bleeding and Calypso was covered in their blood. The finish came when Josh Bobb forced Calypso to tap out to the Brippler Bobbface in one of the most historic battles in UWA history.

On February 18, 2008, HPV made his return by defending his Hardcore championship against Suzuki Sanchez and Jumping Geppetto in a successful effort. Down Syndrome was scheduled to take on the team of Bobberal but Bobb's partner, the General, shockingly refused to show up forcing Bobb to take on the tag team champions on his own. Prototype picked up the pinfall on the champion, upsetting his partner, JD Marshall. Larry Ito defended his championship against  the debuting Golga Jr. in a great Jobber match up that saw Golga succumbing to the Lariat 69. In our main event of the evening, Calypso defeated JD Marshall in a street fight after brawling all over the UWA arena and even inside a fan's car. The series was tied 1-1.

On March 02, 2008, Team UWA (Calypso, Prototype, and JD Marshall) traveled to DWC to battle against DWC's best in Lil' Shank, Kevon, and George. Prototype defeated Kevon by DQ after Lil' Shank interfered and Calypso was also successful in defeating George. JD Marshall came up in a losing effort against Lil' Shank but the two put on a terrific match. The main event came when Team UWA took on Team DWC in the second Six Man Warfare match that saw Team UWA come out on top again with Calypso eliminating Lil' Shank last to pick up the victory for Team UWA.

On March 12, 2008, UWA Tag Team Champions Down Syndrome granted Bobberal another shot at the tag titles and this time The General did show up though he saw action sparsely, forcing Bobb to practically fend for himself in a losing effort after the General simply walked out on his partner. Prototype and JD Marshall got into an argument after the match and came to fisticuffs and a match was set up between the two champions later in the evening. In the second rematch of the night, Larry Ito defeated Golga Jr. yet again to retain his Jobber Championship. JD Marshall managed to defeat Prototype after Josh Bobb interfered on Prototype's behalf and then Larry Ito saved JD Marshall and allowed him to get the pinfall. It was announced that at the next show, JD Marshall and Larry Ito would take on Josh Bobb and Prototype to determine the new tag team champions. Backstage, Suzuki Sanchez attacked UWA Hardcore Champion HPV from behind but ended up regretting the decision as he was buried alive by the champion. In the main event of the evening and for being the sole survivor of  the Six Man Warfare Match, Calypso took on Josh Bobb for the Undisputed Championship. It looked at though Calypso was going to win his fourth Undisputed Championship when Prototype attacked Calypso and allowed Josh Bobb to cover his opponent. Prototype and Josh Bobb officially dubbed themselves The Hardcore Mafia after the match.

One week later, Prototype debuted the Protopit with his first guest being Danbury, a mannequin. After some harsh words from Prototype, JD Marshall attacked the host until he was outnumbered when Josh Bobb joined. Larry Ito came out to even things up and the four began their tag team match but in the end it was the Hardcore Mafia winning the disputed gold after Prototype pinned Larry Ito. We then saw the return of former UWA Co-General Manager K-Fed who debuted his newest wrestler, Bowel Movement. The two cut a promo and promised to take over the UWA. Calypso took on former tag partner Big Daddy A in a "First to Dropkick" match that ended with Calypso hitting a huge dropkick on the big man. In the main event, Josh Bobb defeated JD Marshall in a street fight to retain his Undisputed Championship.

The next week UWA would hold its Money in the Bank show, this time under tournament rules. The first round saw Josh Bobb defeated Larry Ito, a returning David Chaos defeating Jumping Geppetto, JD Marshall defeating a debuting Mimic, and Calypso beating Golga Jr. In the second round, Josh Bobb defeated David Chaos while JD Marshall pinned Calypso after a surprise JKO out of nowhere. Bowel Movement made his wrestling debut by defeating Suzuki Sanchez in just 30 seconds, making a huge impact in the UWA. In the tournament finals, JD Marshall defeated Josh Bobb to win the second Money in the Bank granting him the ability to demand a title shot for any title at any time.

Just three days later, on March 29, 2008, we returned to the UCW arena and opened the show with Calypso pulling the UCW Heavyweight Championship out from under his jacket. He then announced that, in honor of wrestling at UCW arena, he will defend the title in the first ever UCW Gauntlet match featuring himself, Josh Bobb, JD Marshall, Larry Ito, HPV, Golga Jr, AT Alien, Mimic, Elian Gonzalez III, Suzuki Sanchez, and Jumping Geppetto. While Larry Ito started off impressively, going through three matches, Mimic dethroned him. Mimic was then eliminated by Golga Jr. after he was viciously attacked by HPV. Golga Jr. did not last long, however, as Calypso came out. Calypso then went through Jumping Geppetto and AT Alien before JD Marshall came out and the two battled for nearly 15 minutes before Calypso got the pinfall. Josh Bobb came out last and him and Calypso wrestled for twenty minutes before Calypso got the pinfall out of nowhere to retain the UCW Heavyweight Champion, though by the end of the match Calypso was spitting up blood. Just as Calypso began to celebrate, JD Marshall's music hit and Mr. Money in the Bank cashed in his title shot for the UCW Heavyweight Championship and two JKOs later we had a brand new UCW Heavyweight Champion.

On April 02, 2008, the Protopit opened the show with special guest Calypso. Prototype and Calypso exchanged heated words and both men agreed to a match later in the evening. The opening match saw Larry Ito barely beat Mimic to retain his Jobber Championship. JD Marshall then defended his UCW Heavyweight Championship to any challenger which brought out UWA Hardcore Champion HPV. Marshall won by reversing a You've Just Been Infected! with the JKO. After the match, Mimic came out and brawled with HPV which prompted Suzuki Sanchez to come out and all three men brawled to the back. Josh Bobb defended his championship in a four way elimination match against Jumping Geppetto, Golga Jr., and Elian Gonzalez III and he quickly eliminated all three men. After the match, The General returned and attacked Josh Bobb from behind. JD Marshall then came out and challenged the General to a match for the UCW Heavyweight Championship to which the General agreed to. Their match ended in a double DQ, however, when Josh Bobb came out and attacked both of them with a steel chair. In the main event of the evening, Calypso defeated Prototype after reversing a clothesline into a Virgin Slayer.

April 16, 2008, saw one of the most epic nights in UWA history. In the opening match, Josh Bobb defeated JD Marshall in an I Quit match when JD Marshall passed out in the Brippler Bobbface, unable to answer the call. Prototype challenged Calypso to a rematch saying that his endurance is better than Calypso's and the challenge was made for the first ever Sixty-Minute Ironman match in UWA history. Calypso accepted and the two put on one of the greatest matches in UWA history. Prototype received a dislocated shoulder from the match and Calypso an injured calf. This was a match that saw wild brawling, great chain wrestling, and even thumbtacks. In the end, however, it was Calypso coming out on top yet again.

On April 25, 2008, UWA held it's first ever Climb Up event where every title was defended in a ladder match. In the opening match the Hardcore Mafia defeated MDC in a tag team ladder match to retain their tag team championships. Larry Ito defeated Golga Jr. in a Jobber Ladder match after a Lariat 69 from the top of the ladder! In a shocking moment, Suzuki Sanchez defeated HPV and Mimic in the triple threat hardcore ladder match to become the new Hardcore Champion. Even more shocking, however, was when it was revealed that Prototype was under the Suzuki Sanchez mask! In the main event of the evening, David Chaos won the Undisputed Championship after defeating Josh Bobb, Calypso, JD Marshall, and Prototype in a Five Man Ladder match. Team MDC exploded during the match with Chaos and Calypso coming to blows multiple times throughout the match. After the show, Calypso cut an impassioned promo against his former partner demanding that Chaos gives him the title show he deserves. Chaos retorts saying he will announce his first challenger at the next show.

On May 02, 2008, David Chaos had JD Marshall, Prototype, Josh Bobb, and Calypso all come out one by one and plead their case as to why they should get a title shot at the Undisputed Championship. In the end, however, Chaos picked jobber Golga Jr. to the shock and dismay of many. In the opening match of the night, Prototype defeated JD Marshall in an amazing hardcore match that ended with a Protoshock through a table. JD Marshall challenged Prototype to a best of seven series for the Hardcore championship and the champion accepted. Calypso defeated Josh Bobb in a rematch from their match in March in the semi-main event of the evening. In the biggest match of his young career, Golga Jr. took on David Chaos for the Undisputed Championship in a losing effort after tapping out to the Chaos Lock. Calypso cut a promo after the show saying that Chaos can only run for so long.
